Research

The Montreal Fluency Centre (MFC) is committed to evidence-based clinical practice.  This means that all our treatment collect ongoing information to inform treatment outcomes.  This, combined with staff expertise and family values contribute to therapy that is both effective and efficient in time from therapy onset to discharge.  The MFC believes that this type of approach to therapy is basic to clinical best practices.

Some of our clinical research/best practices focus on the following issues:

  • Evaluation of  maintenance of treatment outcomes for preschool stuttering 3-8 years after discharge
  • Evaluation of different service delivery models for therapy for stuttering
  • Assessment of treatment time for early stuttering therapy
  • Bilingualism as an influence in treatment time and outcomes
  • Effect of introducing literacy at age 4
