Each student is paired with an intern; these pairings are established for the year. The student and the intern develop rapport as the intern models effective learning techniques for the student. The program is based upon the cognitive apprenticeship model, which involves the collaborative effort from the student and intern as the intern explicitly teaches strategies for attaining academic success. A similar approach is used during social time, where interns model appropriate social skills to the students. Each pair is closely followed by a clinical team; interns receive support prior to or immediately following every session.
Bursaries available, visit the TAP contact information page to request information. All applications are confidential and are reviewed for acceptance by a bursary committee. The fund has been established so that families with the greatest need will be the prime beneficiaries.
