Intensive Programs
Language Camps
For the past 15 years, the Montreal Fluency Centre’s Summer Language
Therapy Camp has provided an opportunity for children with identified
language problems to receive an intensive language therapy experience
in a fun, relaxed, small group format. The Camp is run by our centre’s
fully qualified speech-language pathologists assisted by a student aide/counselor.
This program is organized around a different, exciting theme every week,
including activities to enhance the following skills:
1. Listening & Attention
2. Understanding of Oral Language
3. Expressive Language
4. Social Language
5. Reading

- Parents receive weekly progress reports.
- 2008 English sessions only
- Choice of 2 X 2 week sessions: July 7– July 10, 2008;
July 14-17, 2008; July 21-24, 2008; July 28-31, 2008 at $350/week
- The camp runs Monday-Thursday from 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
- Minimum of a 2-week session
- Suitable for children Ages 4 to entering grade 1
- 5 children per group
- Daily snack time (snacks provided by parents)
- Location: The Montreal Oral School for the Deaf
(4670 Ste. Catherine W. Westmount, Quebec)
Additional sessions will be provided by qualified instructors and will
enrich each child’s communicative experience with:
- Music
- Movement (balance, dance, rhythm and coordination)
Fundamentals for Literacy Enhancement (FLITE)
- Intensive Reading and Writing Programs (Summer 2008)

FLITE 1A
• Students going into Grade 4 or 5
• Focus on the basics of phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding,
spelling, and sentence writing; intro to narrative structure
• Two weeks: July 14 and 21, Monday to Thursday 9:00 to Noon (total
24 hours)
• Screening required prior to enrollment ($95 fee)
• Maximum 5 students
FLITE 1B
• Students going into Grade 5 or 6
• Focus on applying reading and spelling skills, and writing paragraphs
and narratives
• Two weeks: August 18 and 25, Monday to Thursday 9:00 to Noon
(total 24 hours)
• Screening required prior to enrollment ($95 fee)
• Maximum 5 students
Flite 2A:
• Students going into grade 5 or 6
• Focus on understanding what you read and developing writing
skills (story, paragraph, and book report)
• Two weeks: July 28 and Aug. 4 (Monday to Friday, 9 - noon)
• Screening required prior to enrollment ($95 fee)
• Maximum 5 students
Flite 2B:
• Students going into grade 7 or 8
• Focus on understanding what you read and developing writing
skills (narrative, paragraph, and essay)
• Two weeks: Aug. 11 and Aug. 18 (Monday to Friday, 1 –
4 pm)
• Screening required prior to enrollment ($95 fee)
• Maximum 5 students

The Montreal Fluency Centre is a not-for-profit organization and can
offer bursaries for programme fees.
* Fee subject to change if enrollment is less than 5 students; programme
subject to cancellation if enrollment is too low.

About the camp:
- Intensive 8-week English program, focusing on improving phonological
awareness, phonics, reading and spelling, using an effective language-based
approach.
- Run by Speech Language Pathologists from the Montreal
Fluency Centre using research-based methods.
- For students entering Grade 3 or 4 in September 2008.
- Maximum of 4 students per group.
- The Montreal Fluency Centre is a not for profit organisation and
can offer bursaries for screening and camp fees.
Fees include:
- Parent training session
- Home programming
- Checklist reports

French Groups
Preschool Social Language Group
The Montreal Fluency Centre’s Preschool Social Language Group
is an 8-week program which focuses on improving the children’s
social communication skills in a fun and natural environment. A series
of activities are centered around a new theme each week.
Group goals include:
- Attention
- Listening
- Turn-taking
- Appropriate Eye-contact
- Following Instructions
- Establishing and Maintaining a Topic
- Repairing Communication Breakdown
- Asking for and Giving Information
- Initiating Play with Peers
- Playing Appropriately with Others
